PMB Fulfills A Long Standing Promise To The 1985 Golden Eaglets

President Muhammadu Buhari has fulfilled his promise to reward the world-cup-winning 1985 U-16 golden eaglets, can authoritatively report.
Buhari on Thursday, January 21, rewarded members of the nation’s U-16 football team that won the 1985 FIFA championship when he was military Head of State with N2million each.
He made the announcement at a presidential reception organised for the athletes/officials who did Nigeria proud in recent sports competitions held inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
There was however a little drama as the president at first mistakenly announced rewards of N200m each for the players. This triggered a loud jubilation in the hall but Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, mounted the podium to immediately correct the error.
Ex-players who benefited from the reward includes Fatai Atere, Nduka Ugbade, Jonathan Akpoborie, Baldwin Bazuaye, Victor Igbinoba and late Kingsley Aikiobare who was represented by his aged mother, among others.
